केदारनाथ को क्यों कहते हैं ‘जागृत महादेव’ ? दो मिनट की ये बाबा केदारनाथ की कहानी आपके रौंगटे खड़े कर देगी “

एक बार एक शिव-भक्त अपने गांव से केदारनाथ धाम की यात्रा पर निकला। पहले यातायात की सुविधाएँ तो थी नहीं, वह पैदल ही निकल पड़ा। रास्ते में जो भी मिलता केदारनाथ का मार्ग पूछ लेता। मन में भगवान शिव का ध्यान करता रहता। चलते चलते उसको महीनो बीत गए। आखिरकार एक दिन वह केदार धाम पहुच ही गया।

केदारनाथ में मंदिर के द्वार 6 महीने खुलते है और 6 महीने बंद रहते है। वह उस समय पर पहुचा जब अंतिम आरती के पश्चात मन्दिर के द्वार बंद हो रहे थे। पंडित जी को उसने बताया वह बहुत दूर से महीनो की यात्रा करके आया है। पंडित जी से प्रार्थना की – कृपा कर के दरवाजे खोलकर प्रभु के दर्शन करवा दीजिये । लेकिन वहां का तो नियम है एक बार बंद तो बंद। नियम तो नियम होता है।

वह बहुत रोया। बार-बार भगवन शिव को याद किया कि प्रभु बस एक बार दर्शन करा दो। वह प्रार्थना कर रहा था सभी से, लेकिन किसी ने भी नही सुनी।

पंडित जी बोले अब यहाँ 6 महीने बाद आना, 6 महीने बाद यहा के दरवाजे खुलेंगे। यहाँ 6 महीने बर्फ और ढंड पड़ती है। और सभी जन वहा से चले गये। वह वही पर रोता रहा। रोते-रोते रात होने लगी चारो तरफ अँधेरा हो गया।

लेकिन उसे विस्वास था अपने शिव पर कि वो जरुर कृपा करेगे। उसे बहुत भुख और प्यास भी लग रही थी। उसने किसी की आने की आहट सुनी। देखा एक सन्यासी बाबा उसकी ओर आ रहा है। वह सन्यासी बाबा उस के पास आया और पास में बैठ गया।

पूछा – बेटा कहाँ से आये हो ? उस ने सारा हाल सुना दिया और बोला मेरा आना यहाँ पर व्यर्थ हो गया बाबा जी। बाबा जी ने उसे समझाया और खाना भी दिया। और फिर बहुत देर तक बाबा उससे बाते करते रहे। बाबा जी को उस पर दया आ गयी। वह बोले, बेटा मुझे लगता है, सुबह मन्दिर जरुर खुलेगा। तुम दर्शन जरुर करोगे।

बातों-बातों में इस भक्त को ना जाने कब नींद आ गयी। सूर्य के मद्धिम प्रकाश के साथ भक्त की आँख खुली। उसने इधर उधर बाबा को देखा, किन्तु वह कहीं नहीं थे । इससे पहले कि वह कुछ समझ पाता उसने देखा पंडित जी आ रहे है अपनी पूरी मंडली के साथ।

उस ने पंडित को प्रणाम किया और बोला – कल आप ने तो कहा था मन्दिर 6 महीने बाद खुलेगा ? और इस बीच कोई नहीं आएगा यहाँ, लेकिन आप तो सुबह ही आ गये। पंडित जी ने उसे गौर से देखा, पहचानने की कोशिश की और पुछा – तुम वही हो जो मंदिर का द्वार बंद होने पर आये थे ? जो मुझे मिले थे। 6 महीने होते ही वापस आ गए !

उस आदमी ने आश्चर्य से कहा – नही, मैं कहीं नहीं गया। कल ही तो आप मिले थे, रात में मैं यहीं सो गया था। मैं कहीं नहीं गया। पंडित जी के आश्चर्य का ठिकाना नहीं था।

*उन्होंने कहा – लेकिन मैं तो 6 महीने पहले मंदिर बन्द करके गया था और आज 6 महीने बाद आया हूँ। तुम छः महीने तक यहाँ पर जिन्दा कैसे रह सकते हो ? पंडित जी और सारी मंडली हैरान थी। इतनी सर्दी में एक अकेला व्यक्ति कैसे छः महीने तक जिन्दा रह सकता है।

तब उस भक्त ने उनको सन्यासी बाबा के मिलने और उसके साथ की गयी सारी बाते बता दी। कि एक सन्यासी आया था – लम्बा था, बढ़ी-बढ़ी जटाये, एक हाथ में त्रिशुल और एक हाथ में डमरू लिए, मृग-शाला पहने हुआ था।

पंडित जी और सब लोग उसके चरणों में गिर गये। बोले, हमने तो जिंदगी लगा दी किन्तु प्रभु के दर्शन ना पा सके, सच्चे भक्त तो तुम हो। तुमने तो साक्षात भगवान शिव के दर्शन किये है। उन्होंने ही अपनी योग-माया से तुम्हारे 6 महीने को एक रात में परिवर्तित कर दिया। काल-खंड को छोटा कर दिया। यह सब तुम्हारे पवित्र मन, तुम्हारी श्रद्वा और विश्वास के कारण ही हुआ है। आपकी भक्ति को प्रणाम ।

Once a Shiva-devotee left his village and started on a journey to famous Kedarnath Dham pilgrimage in Uttrakhand. At that times transport facilities were scarce so he left on foot only. He kept on travelling to Kedarnath Dham inquiring people about the route. Throughout journey he kept on remembering and meditating on Lord Shiva in his mind. Months passed since he went on. Finally one day he reached Kedar Dham.

Where did you come from son? He narrated the whole situation and said that my coming here was in vain, Baba ji. Baba Ji explained to him and also gave him food. And then Baba kept talking to him for a long time. Baba ji felt pity on him. He said, son, I think the temple will definitely open in the morning. You will definitely visit.

The doors of the temple in Kedarnath open for 6 months during summers and remain closed for 6 months in winters. He arrived at the time when the temple gates were closing. He told Pandit ji that he had come from far away after traveling for months. He requested to Pandit ji – please open the doors and let me get Lord’s darshan. But as per the rules of Temples once it is closed, it is closed. Temple is closed with full rituals and is opened with another ceremony after six months. And is never opened in between.

Devotee was heartbroken and cried in grief. He repeatedly remembered Bhagwan Shiva and prayed that the he should have darshan only once. He pleaded with everyone he met, but to no avail.

Pandit ji told him to come back after 6 months because the temple doors will open then only. During this time winters there constant snowfall and no one stays back at this place. Then everyone left from there. The devotee kept on crying over there. Day passed and night befell and it became dark all around.

But he had faith in his Shiva that he would definitely bless him. He was also feeling very hungry and thirsty. Suddenly he heard someone coming. He saw a Sanyasi Baba(ascetic) coming towards him. That Sanyasi Baba came to him and sat nearby.

Sanyasi baba asked, “Son, Where have you come from?”. Devotee narrated the whole situation and said that my coming here has gone in vain, Baba ji because I did not get the Darshan of Kedarnath Shivaji. Baba Ji consoled him and also gave him some food to eat. After that Baba kept talking to him for a long time. Baba ji felt pity on him. He said, son, I think the temple will definitely open in the morning. You will definitely get the Darshan of Baba Kedarnath Shivaji.

Gradually devotee fell asleep while in talks. Later his eyes opened with the dim light of the morning Sun. He looked around for Sanyasi Baba but he was not there anymore. Before he could surmise anything, he saw same Pandit ji coming with his entire troupe.

He offered his obeisance to Pundit ji and said, “Panditji! Yesterday you said that the temple will open after 6 months? And meanwhile no one will come here, but you have returned here only in today morning.” Pandit ji looked at him intently, tried to recognize him and said,” Are you the one who came when the temple door was closed? who I met as the time of temple closing. How have you managed to return back exactly after 6 months!

The man exclaimed in surprise, “No Panditji, I have not gone anywhere else. I met you only yesterday, I slept here at night. I did not go anywhere.” Panditji’s surprise knew no bounds listening to these words.

Panditji said, “But I went after closing the temple 6 months ago and today I have returned here after 6 months. How can you survive here for six months?” Pandit ji and the whole congregation were shocked. How can a single person survive for six months in such a cold, in heavy snowfall without food or water or shelter?

Then that devotee told him the entire story how he met Sanyasi Baba and what happened with him after that. He described Sanyasi appearance – he was tall, with wide hair, wearing a trident in one hand and a damru in one hand, wearing a deer skin as loincloth.

Panditji and everyone fell at devotee’s feet. They said, we have spent our entire lives but could not get the darshan of the Bhagwan Shiva, you are the true devotee. You have actually seen Prabhu Shiva. He has converted your six months into one night with his yoga-maya(Yogic illusion).He shortened the time period for you. All this has happened because of your pure mind, your faith and devotion. We bow down to your devotion.
