Swami Bodhichitananda Saraswati was born in 1957 in USA. He hails from North Carolina,United states. He studied Architecture from North Carolina university and later Philosphy/Religion at Appalachian State University. He is a Kriya Yogi and is living in the Indian Himalayas since 1991.

Following strict monastic tradition of Sanyasi Swamiji doesn’t want to talk much about his past life and preferes to talk only on what could help in spiritual progress of everyone. In his own words

Hari Om. This body was born in USA, 1957. But usually Sannyasis don’t speak much of the body’s history. What is of help in spiritual life is what is important. I pray you are well…

He received monastic vows from the Self-Realization Fellowship, in California from Sri Swami Chidananda Saraswati, Rishikesh, in 1999. Self-Realization Fellowship (SRF) was founded by Shri Paramahansa Yogananda, writer of world Famous book ‘Autobiography of a Yogi’. At SRF, Swami Bodhichitananda Saraswati was a personal assistant to Swami Chidananda.

Swami Bodhichitananda Saraswati is also a member of Swami Sivananda – Divine Life Society too, where he had many different roles too.

Swami Bodhichitananda Saraswati’s Kriya Yoga Guru is a Himalayan Yogi, Swami Jnanananda Giri. Swami Jnanananda Giri (1929 – 2015) himself was born in Zürich/Switzerland as Hansjuerg Habluetzel and he walked to India in 1952 after reading Autobiography of a Yogi.

Swami Bodhichitananda has been practicing for more that 36 years and primarily teaches Kriya Yoga of Mahavatar Babaji, Integral and Evolutionary Spirituality. Swamiji shares his deep inner knowledge in a simple and joyful manner with all his students.

Swamiji considers himself a lifelong student of the great Saints, Yogis from all spiritual traditions. He is always learning, does not claim to be an expert. His special teachings are focused on Kriya Yoga, both from the tradition of Paramahansa Yogananda and H.H. Swami Sivananda.

Swami Sivananda and Paramahansa Yogananda are both great names in Yoga. Any sincere yoga practitioner would be aware about them or might have read one or more of their books.

Swami Bodhichitananda also teaches Raja Yoga, as well as all traditional Yogic knowledge and practice coming from Swami Sivananda.

Swami Bodhichitananda tours during the Indian summer monsoons in Europe & sometimes the USA, conducting meditation retreats, spiritual discourses, etc by invitations from spiritual communities, ashrams, yoga centers, individuals, etc.,

He is founder of the Himalayan Yogi’s Ashram, Rishikesh. Its mission as an ashram and spiritual retreat is to promote Indian spiritual knowledge and culture, embrace all religions and saints of the world, and for a means to gain direct knowledge and experience of Truth.
