The greatness of Sardar Patel
There was a famous lawyer in Gujarat. Once he was fighting a case for his client meanwhile his wife fell terribly ill back in his native place village.
The honest lower had a huge dilemma in front of him. On one side was his wife’s health, and on the other was the critical case for his client who was on the verge of being hanged in crule British Raj.
Sensing her husband’s dilemma, the wife herself said, “Don’t worry me, you go to the city. No innocent should be punished because of your absence.”
Young Barrister reached the city with a heavy heart and when he just stood up to fight his trial, to cross-examine he received a telegram.
He read the telegram and placed it in his pocket and continued the debate. Based on the evidence, he proved his client innocent, which he truly was.
Everyone came to congratulate the lawyer and inquired him what was written in the telegram?
When the lawyer showed that telegram they were stunned. It was was news of his wife’s death. People asked, “How did you leave your sick wife?”
He said, “I came here because of her order only. She knew that the duty to save the innocent was the greater service for the nation”.
That Advocate was none other than – Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, who was called Iron Man due to his iron-willed sense of duty.
सरदार वल्लभ भाई पटेल की महानता
गुजरात में एक प्रसिद्ध वकील रहा करते थे । एक बार वे एक मुकदमा लड़ रहे थे कि गाँव में उनकी पत्नी बीमार हो गई ।
वे उसकी सेवा करने गाँव पहुचे कि उन्ही दिनों उनके मुक़दमे की तारीख पड़ गई ।
एक तरफ उनकी पत्नी का स्वास्थ्य था, तो दूसरी और उनका मुकदमा ।
उन्हें असमंजस में देख पत्नी ने कहा – “मेरी चिंता न करे, आप शहर जाये । आपके न रहने पर कहीँ किसी बेकसूर को सजा न हो जाये ।”
वकील साहब दुःखी मन से शहर पहुचे और जब वे अपने मुवक्किल के पक्ष में जिरह करने खड़े हुए ही थे कि किसी ने उनको एक टेलीग्राम लाकर दिया ।
उन्होंने टेलीग्राम पढ़कर अपनी जेब में रख लिया और बहस जारी रखी । अपने सबूतो के आधार पर उन्होंने अपने मुवक्किल को निर्दोष सिद्ध कर दिया , जो कि वह था भी ।
सभी लोग वकील साहब को बधाई देने पहुँचे और उनसे पूछने लगे कि टेलीग्राम में क्या लिखा था ?
वकील साहब ने जब वह टेलीग्राम सबको दिखाया तो वे अवाक् रह गए । उसमे उनकी पत्नी की मृत्यु का समाचार था । लोगों ने कहा – “आप अपनी बीमार पत्नी को छोड़कर कैसे आ गए ?”
वकील साहब बोले -“आया तो उसी के आदेश से ही था ; क्योकि वह जानती थी कि बेकसूर को बचाने का कर्तव्य सबसे बड़ा धर्म होता है “।
वे वकील साहब और कोई नहीं – सरदार वल्लभ भाई पटेल थे , जो अपनी इसी कर्तव्यपरायणता के कारण लौह पुरुष कहलाये|
