श्री देव गुरु बृहस्पति मंदिर , दशाश्वमेध घाट मार्ग वाराणसी

काशी (वाराणसी) में दशाश्वमेध घाट मार्ग और बाबा विश्वनाथ के निकट ही गुरु मंदिर स्थित है। इस अति प्राचीन वृहस्पति मंदिर में भक्तो का ताता लगा रहता है। धार्मिक मान्यता है कि जब महादेव ने काशी को अपनी राजधानी बनाईं ,तो देव लोक से देवता भी मोक्ष नगरी काशी में वास करने के लिए ललायित थे। सभी ने महादेव से यथा-स्थान के लिए अनुनय विनय किया। अवढर बाबा भोलेनाथ दानी ने सभी को यथा स्थान दिया।

भगवान वृहस्पति को जो सभी के गुरु है, को महादेव ने काशी विश्वनाथ मंदिर से कुछ दूरी पर उनको स्थान दिया। इनका सर्वोच्च स्थान होने के कारण देवगुरु का मंदिर सभी से ऊँचा है। जिससे सभी देवगण अपने अपने स्थान से नित्य दर्शन करते है। देवगुरु बृहस्पति नौ ग्रहों में सर्वश्रेष्ठ ग्रह है। धन, मंगल और बुद्धि के देवता होने के साथ-साथ इनको पीली वस्तुए काफी पसंद है।

इनको भक्त पीला वस्त्र, पीला प्रसाद चढाते है। भक्त यहा देव गुरु की पूजा कराते है और मंगल कार्य सिद्ध होने के लिए हाथो में पीली हल्दी, पीला चन्दन लगाते है। धार्मिक दृष्टि से देवगुरु बृहस्पति की उपासना ज्ञान, बुद्धि, सौभाग्य, दाम्पत्य सुख देने वाली ही मानी गई है।

गुरु बृहस्पति की उपासना के लिए गुरुवार का दिन बहुत ही शुभ होता है। ज्योतिष शास्त्रों के मुताबिक भी गुरु ग्रह शुभ ग्रह होता है। इसके अच्छे प्रभाव से व्यक्ति वैवाहिक सुख, धनलाभ और संतान सुख पाता है। किंतु इसके विपरीत गुरु दोष या बुरे प्रभाव से संतान पीड़ा, असफलता या अनिष्ठ का सामना करना पड़ता है।

गुरु बृहस्पति की पूजा की विधि 

सुबह नहाकर नवग्रह मंदिर में गुरु बृहस्पति की प्रतिमा को यथासंभव केसर के दूध या गंगाजल से स्नान कराएं। देवगुरु की केसरिया गंध, अक्षत, पीली पूजा सामग्री, जिनमें पीले फूल, पीला वस्त्र, नैवेद्य में पीले पकवान शामिल हों, अर्पित करें। पूजा व मंत्र जप के बाद पीली वस्तुओं जैसे चने की दाल का दान करें, सक्षम होने पर सोने के दान का भी विधान है।

गुरु बृहस्पति की धूप व घी के दीप से आरती कर मनोवांछित इच्छाओं को पूरा करने की कामना करें। इस दिन व्रत रखना भी शुभ फल देता है।

DevGuru Brihaspati Temple is situated near Dashashvamedh Ghat road. This place is adjacent to Baba Vishwanath Temple. The ancient Brihaspati Temple is always flocked by devotees. It is said that when Mahadev made Kashi his capital, then the Gods from heaven also wanted to live in Kashi-The city of liberation. Everyone requested to Shir Mahadev ji for a suitable place in Varanasi. Pabhu Shankar gave everyone a suitable place.

Lord Brihaspati who is the Guru of all Gods was offered a place very near to Lord Shiva’s Vishvanath temple. Since he is the Guru of all Gods, his place had to be above all other Gods. Hence the temple of Lord Brihaspati is situated on a slightly higher elevation than other Gods. This way all God can constantly view him from their own place.

DevGuru Brihaspati is deemed hallowed among all nine planets in astrology. He is a planet of wealth, auspiciousness and intellect and likes yellow things very much.

Devotees offer him yellow clothes and yellow ‘Prasad'(yellow sweets, fruits etc). Devotees worship Guru Brihaspati and paste yellow Sandal and yellow turmeric in his hands as an offering, to get their wishes fulfilled. Traditionally Lord Birhaspati is believed to be the giver of knowledge, wisdom, good fortune, and marital happiness.

Thursday is very auspicious for the worship of Lord Brihaspati. According to the astrological scriptures, the Brihaspati (Jupiter)Planet is one of the most auspicious planets. If it is benefic in horoscope then the person is blessed with marital bliss, wealth and children. In contrast, if it is malefic then the person may face, loss of progeny, failure and miseries.

Procedure for worship Lord Brihaspati on Thursday

Bathe in the early morning and give a bath to the idol of Lord Brihaspati with Saffron, Milk or Ganges water. Offer devotion to Goddess Saffron fragrance, yellow unbroken rice grains, yellow worship materials – including yellow flowers, yellow clothes, yellow sweet desserts in Naivedya.

After worship and chanting mantra, donate the yellow things like grams lentil, besan laddu etc. If a person can afford, even the donation of Gold can also be done.

Perform Arti with incense and lamp(Deep) . Make the request to Lord Brihaspati to fulfill your wishes. Fasting on this day also gives auspicious effect
