Dr. David Frawley is an American by birth while an Indian by heart and a devout Hindu by faith. Born in 1950 in America Dr. David Frawley went on to accomplish rare D. Litt. (Doctor of Letters), the highest educational title possible in the field of Yoga and Vedic sciences, from SVYASA (Swami Vivekananda Yoga Anusandhana Samsthana), the only deemed Yoga university recognized by the Government of India . He also has a second D. LITT. from Ram Manohar Lohia Awadh University, Faizabad, Uttar Pradesh

His Hindu name after conversion is Pandit Vamadeva Shastri. Pandit Vamadeva Shastri received prestigious Padma Bhushan Award ( The third Highest civilian award) in March 2015 by Government of Indian for his distinguished service for promoting Indian values and vedic teachings across globe.

Dr. Frawley has is also a recipient of special National Eminence Award from the South Indian Education Society (SIES) as an “international expert in the fields of Ayurveda, Yoga, and Vedic Astrology.” . This award has only been given to about fifty educators over the last forty years.

David Frawley (Hindu Name: वामदेव शास्त्री), is widely recognized Hindu teacher, a Vedic Acharya and a Hindutva activist.

His large gamut of books has been written on wide variety of topics including the Vedas, Hinduism, Yoga, Ayurveda and Vedic astrology. His works are widely respected and have been very popular among the common masses.

Dr. Frawley is the President of the American Council of Vedic Astrology. He runs an Institute of Vedic Studies at Santa Fe, New Mexico. His articles are often published in vernacular newspapers in the UK. Dr Frawley is known for his Pro-Hinudtva stand is a strong advocate of the Hindu rights.

He is a famed practitioner of Ayurveda too. Ancient Ayurvedic system of India promotes a healthy lifestyle and holistic approach to health.

Dr. Frawley completely rejects the Indo-Aryan migration. He points out that this theory was fabricated to help European missionaries to alienate the indigenous population from its own roots, ergo to help Britishers rule India better.

He strongly opines for Indigenous Aryans theory. Frawley has fervently criticized the 19th century racial interpretations of Indian prehistory over the myth of the Aryan invasion of India, .

Rajiv Mehrotra (2003) of the Foundation for Universal Responsibility of His Holiness the Dalai Lama in New Delhi, India, interviewed Frawley as one of twenty important spiritual teachers in his book The Mind of the Guru.
