When an Indian King of Jamnagar , Raja DigVijay Singh, helped Poland

During second World war Hitler attacked Poland. During the course of war soldiers of Poland were forced and had to leave a Ship full of 500 women and 200 children . Captain of the ship was told to find a suitable asylum for them in any other country. They were hoping that if the soldiers survive the war they will meet their women and children again.. The ship traveled to Siraf port of Iran but they were not allowed even to alight form the sip there. Not finding asylum there the Captain tried with other ports in Seychelles &   Adan, But they were not welcomed there as well. After cruising a lot and trying their luck everywhere, The ship reached the Port of Jamnagar in India.

Jam Sahab Digvijay Singh Jadeja who was  then King of Jamnagar, opened the gate of his place Hawamahal for the them but also but also arranged for the education of Kids in one of the schools ,  their Kingdom in Balchadhi. This is part of of 300 acre campus of the Sainik School, Balachadi now.  This Polish  refugee group stayed in Jamanagar for 9 years. One of the children who studied in Jamangar , Later on became Prime minister of Poland. Even now also  the descendants of those grateful refugees visit Jamanagar and remember their ancestors.  Poland remained grateful and acknowledged the magnanimous gesture by King. In the year 2016, 50 years after Jam Saheb’s death, Poland’s Parliament unanimously adopted a special resolution honoring Jam Saheb Digvijay Sinhji for his aid to Polish children refugees during WWII.

There are roads named after King Digvijay Singh. The Jamsaheb Digvijay Singh Jadeja School in Warsaw was established to honor this legacy. Even  now they keep on publishing articles every year, about King Digvijay Singh in Polish newspapers and keep their relations alive with Indian soil.

जब हिटलर ने पोलैंड पर आक्रमण करके द्वितीय विश्व युद्ध की शुरुआत की थी तो उस समय पोलैंड के सैनिको ने अपने 500 महिलाओ और करीब 200 बच्चों को एक शीप में बैठाकर समुद्र में छोड़ दिया और कैप्टन से कहा की इन्हें किसी भी देश में ले जाओ, जहाँ इन्हें शरण मिल सके अगर जिन्दगी रही हम बचे रहे या ये बचे रहे तो दुबारा मिलेंगे… पांच सौ शरणार्थी, पोलिस, महिलाओ और दो सौ बच्चो से भरा वो जहाज ईरान के सिराफ़ बंदरगाह पहुंचा, वहां किसी को शरण क्या उतरने की अनुमति तक नही मिली, फिर सेशेल्स में भी नही मिली, फिर अदन में भी अनुमति नही मिली। अंत में समुद्र में भटकता-भटकता वो जहाज गुजरात के जामनगर के तट पर आया।

जामनगर के तत्कालीन महाराजा “जाम साहब दिग्विजय सिंह” ने न सिर्फ पांच सौ महिलाओ-बच्चो के लिए अपना एक राजमहल जिसे हवामहल कहते है वो रहने के लिए दिया बल्कि अपनी रियासत में बालाचढ़ी में सैनिक स्कूल में उन बच्चों की पढाई लिखाई की व्यस्था की.. ये शरणार्थी जामनगर में कुल नौ साल रहे… उन्ही शरणार्थी बच्चो में से एक बच्चा बाद में पोलैंड का प्रधानमंत्री भी बना, आज भी हर साल उन शरणार्थीयो के वंशज जामनगर आते है और अपने पूर्वजों को याद करते है… पोलैंड की राजधानी वारसा में कई सडकों का नाम महाराजा जाम साहब के नाम पर है, उनके नाम पर पोलैंड में कई योजनायें चलती है। हर साल पोलैंड के अखबारों में महाराजा जाम साहब दिग्विजय सिंह के बारे में आर्टिकल छपता है। प्राचीन काल से भारत वसुधैव-,कुटुम्बकम और सहिष्णुता का पाठ दुनिया को पढ़ाते आया है और  और रहेगा|
