Meaning: There is no defect in demanding to fill the belly. One who demands more, says Kabir, is not qualified for liberation.

Udar samata ann le,tan hi samata chir
Adhik hi sangrah na kare, tiska nam fakir.

Meaning:Take grains just to fill your belly and cloth only to wrap your body. One who does not collect any more is a true recluse.

Anmanga to ati bhala, mangi liya nahi dosh
Udar samata mangi ley, nishchai pabai moksh.

Meaning: its great to get without asking, to demand is not bad either. If one demands only to satisfy hunger, he is certain to get liberation.

Anmanga uttim kaha, madhayam mangi ju leya
Kahai Kabir nikrist so,par ghar dharna deya.

Meaning: Getting without asking is best, getting on demand is still good. It is worst, says Kabir, if one pickets others house to get anything.

Aab gaya aadar gaya, nainan gaya saneh
Yeh tino tabhi gaye, jabhi kaha kachhu deh.

Meaning: Prestige lost, honour lost and affection lost in all eyes. All these three are lost, when you ask to be given something.

Aajahu tera sab mitay,jo manay Guru sikh
Jab lag tu ghar me rahai, mati kahun mangai bheekh.

Meaning: All your distress can end today if you agree with Guru’s teachings. So long you are a householder, never ask for alms anywhere.

Magan maran saman hai, tohi dayee main sikh
Kahai Kabir samujhai ke,mati koyee mangai bheekh.

Meaning: Asking is equal to death, So do i surmise. So warns Kabir, no body should ever ask for alms.

Sahaj milay so dudh hai, mangi milay so pani
Kahai Kabir wah rakat hai, jame eaicha tani.

Meaning:What you get easily is akin to milk, what you get on asking is akin to water. What you get from a tug of war is akin to blood.

Magan maran saman hai, mati koyee mango bheekh

Meaning: Begging for something is like death, no body should ask for alm. Dying is better than asking, this is the teaching of a good Guru.

Mangan gaye so mar rahe, marai ju mangan janhi
Tinte pahile we mare, hot karat hai nahi.

Meaning: One who has gone to beg, think him dead. One who can give but denies to donate died even earlier.

Magan maran saman hai, seekh dayee mai tohi
Kahain Kabir satguru suno, mati re mangau mohi.

Meaning:Begging is like dying, take this as my sermon. O God,says Kabir, never put me so down as to beg.

Khar kookar ki bheekh jo,nikrist kahabai soye
Kahai Kabir is bheekh me,mukti na kabhu hoye.

Meaning:The alm of the ass and dog is said to be the worst.Says Kabir in this alm,one can never get the salvation.

Bhawar bheekh madhyam kahi, suno sant chit laye
Kahai Kabir take gahai, madhyam manhi samai.

Meaning:The alm of the bees is of medium grade, hear saints mindfully. One who does so, says Kabir, gets the medium state of salvation.
